Being a celebrant is much more than just delivering a ceremony. I endeavour to thread love, warmth, humour and individuality into every ceremony that I work on. Whether you already know what you want or need some inspiration, I am here to listen and guide you through your most important day, writing your story in your own way.

Hi. Iā€™m Ruth and I am a true Yorkshire lass living in Huddersfield with my husband, two sons and an over-friendly cat called Geoff.

I have always had a passion to work with people, in a caring and supportive role and taught for over 25 years in primary schools as a reception class teacher. Yes I do have eyes in the back of my head and was often covered in glitter and glue for most of the year.

I love the outdoors and have trained as a forest school leader. There is something about the smell of wood burning that makes me feel at one with nature.

A keen listener, I enjoy getting to know people and uncovering their life stories. I would be honoured to create a totally unique celebration for you, ensuring it is as individual as you are.

I am a member of the ICPC (International College of Professional Celebrants).

I perform ceremonies across the Huddersfield district but can also travel in West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or a short description of what you are looking for.

  • Ruth was very thorough in her preparation and discussions with the family before the service and took on board our wishes for the service. On the day of the funeral she was fully prepared and performed an excellent service of which Christine would have been proud. We would recommend Ruth to anyone needing a celebrant.

    Jim.

  • The most important part of the process from our perspective was that almost from the outset, Ruth 'got us', and it became evident to us that it was just as important to her that she 'got us'.

    Janine and Colin.

  • "We were touched by the beautiful theeulogy that Ruth wrote to celebrate the life of a very special auntie. She listened carefully to all of things that we shared and spoke with real sincerity and compassion."
